It just keeps being summer. . .

We tried selling tomatoes again one evening but after a couple sales got rained out. . . .
But the weekend was time for Girl Scout camp.

Here daughter showing me the dead moth she found.
We set up the teepee with the covered wagons.
 Her room for the weekend.
 Inside.
Showing grandma some of the things she did all weekend.
This is where she stayed a couple of months ago.
They hope to stay in these soon.
 or this one. . .
or this one.

Sunday's pickin's. . . .

"Homegrown Tomatoes"
Ain't nothin' in the world that I like better
Than bacon & lettuce & homegrown tomatoes
Up in the mornin' out in the garden

Get you a ripe one don't get a hard one
Plant 'em in the spring eat 'em in the summer
All winter with out 'em's a culinary bummer
I forget all about the sweatin' & diggin'
Everytime I go out & pick me a big one

Homegrown tomatoes homegrown tomatoes
What'd life be without homegrown tomatoes
Only two things that money can't buy
That's true love & homegrown tomatoes

You can go out to eat & that's for sure
But it's nothin' a homegrown tomato won't cure
Put 'em in a salad, put 'em in a stew
You can make your very own tomato juice
Eat 'em with egss, eat 'em with gravy
Eat 'em with beans, pinto or navy
Put 'em on the site put 'em in the middle
Put a homegrown tomato on a hotcake griddle

If I's to change this life I lead
I'd be Johnny Tomato Seed
'Cause I know what this country needs
Homegrown tomatoes in every yard you see
When I die don't bury me
In a box in a cemetary
Out in the garden would be much better
I could be pushin' up homegrown tomatoes

A friend called. . .

. . . . And asked what I was up to.
I told him I was putting up a teepee.
I think he thought I was just blowing him off.

We really were putting up a teepee.

Keeping summer real - Milestones.

We tend to spend as much time outside as we can, regardless of the weather.

So Saturday we found a beach near the cabin we could play at for several hours.
Which also provided daughter with another first for her life book.
Jumping off of a floating dock in the middle of a lake that she had to swim out to!

Air borne!
And of course, dipping the feet in said lake from said dock.

Good thing daddy's camera is waterproof.
We even carried Grandma across the hot sand so see could sit by the water (or in it, as it ended up.)

We then picked tomatoes when we got home . . . .
. . . so she could have another first.
Her own tomato stand!

She planted them, and helped pick them. They are hers to sell.
 Hard at it.
 Drumming up business.
She made $59.50 in about an hour and a half.

Last summer weekend before school. . .

found us once again very busy.

Friday found us hosting 'end of summer' Girl Scout swim party.
Saturday and Sunday mornings found us taking early morning walks to try to catch sight of the fox.

And we did both mornings.
 Close up.
Tomato picking style.
Daughter also spotted this Cicada leaving it's shell.
Note the wasp trying to get in.

She also spotted this dragon fly on my car.

We also had the swim team end of season party.

Summer fun. . . only a couple of weeks to go till school.

Thursday was her big piano recital with judges.
Here she is all ready to go.
Listening in on a friends performance.
Two 'Superior' trophies when all was said and done.
Saturday morning early was the All County Swim meet.
She had to swim in five races.
 Snack time between races.
Home and Gardens pool setting for friends coming over.

Latest project. . .

. . . getting dad old film editor working.
We have several old family films I want to get record in a more modern way, and would like to do it myself. Or at least see if I can do it.

So . . . after many years in storage, and providing a good nesting spot for mice, I got it out today and got busy.
Took it all apart, cleaned it real well and goosh and golly it worked.
Still in it's original box.

I'll take care of it better this time dad.
