Foster by loghead

JT's take on the
Hal Foster portage
image.
The caption read;
"Agh! the tab came off the can!"

Holmes by McClaine

I had one of my favorite cartoonists do a version of Holmes for me and I really like it.
Look over at my links to find more of his work.

Here is an image done by 'Prince Valiant' and 'Tarzan' comic artist Hal Foster that I just love.
Tonight I will add the 'JT' version which I did for the riverlog.

More learned in Photoshop

With the help of Bling, I am learning a little more as I go along.

This time I wanted to put a drawing on a photo and color the drawing.

This was for the MWA newsletter.

Here is how I like Petey!

Kinda silly and naive. And taking most things the wrong way.
This is from "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box."

Need to get busy, but in the mean time. . .

Have been re-reading my books on Maine and revisiting some of my favorite artists from my time up there.
Author Edmund Ware Smith and artist Maurice 'Jake' Day.
Mr. Day helped bring Bambi to the big screen for Disney.
Check um out.
Here is a book by Smith, illustrated by Day.
Lots of familiar places to my time at Matagamon.
Oh, and althought not from Maine, let's not forget
Eric Sloane, his stuff is still very available.

And here is the small cabin same day.

This one use to be a blacksmith shop.
Size is still the same, but I changed roof pitch and chinked it.

Well, I said this was going to be about cabins also. .

This is the cabin last weekend, on the longest day of the year. Looks the same as on the shortest, but more green.

Here is my only commissioned painting so far. . .

It was done for Morgie's gift shop on Main St.
Her daughter asked me to do it for an anniversary
over 15 years ago, and I finally got a picture of it.
I had not seen it in 15 years.
Always was one of my favorites.

Painting of my alaska bush plane ride

Still not crazy about flying, but it was hard to worry about it flying in such a beautiful place.
Well, at least till we had to fly around the storm.

Petey before color choice

I like this one, but for some reason I ended up going with Petey in blue.
I like Holmes in this one also, but he has changed and looks less severe now.

Possible chance to do a mural for the P.O.

Just found out about it yesterday, but may get to do a mural for a conference room at the main post office down town. Gotta come up with a new idea.
Will post a color image of the previous drawing here soon.

Help in the Art World

I am kinda excited. A good friend, Mike H., has started helping me get a painting ready to make prints from. The old Lost Valley Lodge painting, from, can you believe it, 1980. Wed. night we scanned in the digital image of the piece, and printed the first copies as a first color check. All went well. Now I just need to start marketing.

Welcome to my blog.

This is a first for me, since I don't usually like these things.
Look here for my thoughts on Cabins, Kayaking and art. . . . and maybe some other things.
Don't expect me to be to fast at this.
See ya.
