Today's quick sketch

Had a great time at class last night with oils.

Should have that one done next week.

So, here's today's rural scene.

Are ya getting tired of the theme's yet?

Bet ya can't guess where today's quick sketch comes from?

What a great morning for a drive.

Since I get up early to hit the gym and not wake baby, I usually get an hour or so to draw or drive looking for trees each morning.
Not many things get me as excited as finding a new old log building.
And although I had passed this house before I had never stopped to take pictures.
When I did today I discovered a small log barn in the back.
Wow.
So the following pictures are from this mornings drive.
First is the old house.
Second is the log barn.
Third, the bigger barn.

Behind the light source, tuesday two

Big ole farm tree.

Monday's quick sketch.

Sat and Sunday

My dad suggested that I make leafs look like leafs, so I tried something different.

No leafs is Sat. The new attempt at leafs is Sunday.

I kinda like it and will try to expand on the method.

Picture of bridge house in Ambleside

And here is a link to the area.

Ok, this is a little better.

Can I count this as two sketchs then?

Weds. trees and more. . . .

A little over 20 years ago while touring England I came across this stone house on top of a stone bridge. Here is a sketch I did today of that bridge/house. I took some tips from Michael and used my wonderfull #2 on it's side a little and I like the way the trees came out. In the past when sketching I would usually not make my darks dark enough, something I do not have a problem with when I paint. So, . . . I am trying to make my darks darker in pencil.
Ran out of batteries, so the dark areas did not come out that well here. So, when I get home I will take another picture and re-post it.

Hope ya like it.

tuesday's trees, sort of. . .

Did not get to get outside to draw yesterday, . . . so, while dreaming of next years canal boat trip I did a quick sketch, 20 mins. Hope ya like it. I'm going back to daydreaming.

#2 pencil number 2

Had to cheat a little. Did not get time to sit and draw, so took a drive by picture, and drew from the computer screen. Gave myself roughly the same time to do it in. I kinda like it.

Makes me want to journal more.
