Here is another plein air from Michael's return journey.

I hope this encourages him to journal with sketches on all his trips.
Size, an incredible 5"x7".

Two for today

Both oaks.
Sorry no QS today. Actually had to work at work.
Darn.

Today's tree

First pen and ink in a few that I like.

Went simpler, less lines and kinda like it.

Just framed, has a tree in it. .

Trent and Mersy canal England.

Just a quick photo of the finished painting.

Baxter State Park Maine

My favorite state park.

Tuesday's tree

Here is a treat.

Artist friend Michael Haynes just returned from out west and sent me some plein air work he did on the drive back. Enjoy and check out his web site listed over to the right as "My favorite local artist"

Ok. . .

I was afraid of this. My goal was to do some really good pen and ink, and some have been ok.
But, I am really liking the pencil stuff better.
I am not going to give up on the pen, but it is not going as well as I had hoped.
As my little girl is so fond of saying now, I need to 'concentrate' on the pen stuff still.

'Almost gone', monday's QS

Another covered bridge.

Pen was heavy this weekend. . .

but got my two done.

Friday's QS and tree

Got up early to haul brush then hit the gym, so pen was a little heavy today.

Did a trio. Not real happy with it. QS turned out a little better.

Tuesday's QS and tree

Foggy country road early winter.

This one may end up a painting also.

Sat. Sunday and Monday trees.

Monday's will probably end up a painting.
I like Sunday's sketch the best.

English Oak

Most trees seem to find a way of bending with the winds and storms that stir it's branch's.

But the English Oak appears to try to stand solid against the force's of nature. Not bending, not giving. Just stand there and take it. That is probably why they look so gnarled and unmoving.

They look solid and unbent. I had the chance a number of years ago to stay at a B&B in Sherwood Forest and see some of these old gaints.

Today's tree

Sorry, was not happy with yesterday's QS, so I removed it.

But here is today's tree. A gaint from oversea's.
Tried to show some of the large limb's on this tree.
They are gigantic!
