English Oak


Most trees seem to find a way of bending with the winds and storms that stir it's branch's.

But the English Oak appears to try to stand solid against the force's of nature. Not bending, not giving. Just stand there and take it. That is probably why they look so gnarled and unmoving.

They look solid and unbent. I had the chance a number of years ago to stay at a B&B in Sherwood Forest and see some of these old gaints.

  1. I always think those old oaks look as though someone has sat on them and squashed them down. You capture it well in your sketch.
