Sepia Saturday for this week - Diving Right in.

Sepia Saturday post for this week.

We spent a lot of time in the late 50's early 60's diving right in.

It usually took place at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri at a place called. . . .

Bonds cabins. We just called the place the cabins at Grand Glaze.

One week there every year for many years.

My brother and cousin diving right in.
And jumping right in.

  1. Not sure which photos I like better -- the many dives, or that wonderful break between dives that conjure up childhood backyard barbecues. Excellent photos and well presented.

  2. The water also gave lots of joy to me and my siblings.

  5. How lucky someone caught the divers in action. I'm sure had I been behind the camera all you would see would be the splash or maybe a blur.

    1. I know what you mean. Even with the cameras back then.

  6. Ah, we never got to play at the lake like that during my childhood. Maybe my mother felt she couldn't keep track of 6 kids in the water. It's a good thing we never told her about building a raft out of scrap wood and taking it out on the river.

    1. Everyone needs to swim in a lake or river at least once as a child. 6 would be hard to watch.

  7. Those are great memories of your childhood. We went one week in the 50s to a camp on the Black River, somewhere in southern Missouri. I remember being miserable a lot of the time...I think I was already a teen, and hadn't even learned to enjoy the water. Later on in life I got over that.

  8. Well done! I can almost hear the squeals of delight and feel the splash of cool water. Now that every place can be as cool as a refrigerator with A\C, we've lost that refreshing contrast that came from a week at the lake.
