We had left Monday evening to arrive in London Tuesday, about 11:30 am.
Our daughter had been sick on the flight over (from probably a little food poisoning), but rallied by the time we got to London. She is a much better traveller than I am.
We took the train from Heathrow to London where we were met by our friend Barbara. We stowed our gear in her office, and while she finished work we headed to Covent Garden.
At one time an old produce market in London, it is now very touristy and trendy, with souvenir stalls and restaurants.
In center court has live acts of musicians and jugglers and such.
The acts were good, even if the jokes were not.
We toured a great little toy shop, and a few other places before meeting our friend to pick up gear and head for fish and chips and mushy peas, our first of the trip.
On our way to fish and chips we passed this reminder of Dickens.
After dinner we headed to Kentishtown where Barbara lives.
After settling in, Barbara and I explored her local pub (which she had not been to yet).
The atmosphere was great, very Victorian, but the beer choices were lacking.
So ended our first day.
